Turning to Allah in Hardship and Ease: Reflections from the Shifa Journey Tour
Auburn Gallipoli Mosque was honoured to host the Shifa Journey to Allah Tour, welcoming sisters from across the community for an evening of reflection, learning, and spiritual renewal.
As part of her Sydney tour, Ustadha Nagebah Hayal delivered a powerful lecture titled “Turning to Allah in Hardship and Ease,” reminding attendees of Allah’s nearness, mercy, and love — especially during times of difficulty. Up to 80 sisters gathered on the night to listen, volunteer, and connect with one another in a shared space of learning and sisterhood.
Throughout the talk, Ustadha Nagebah invited sisters to reframe the way they view their lives and their struggles. She reminded the audience that our lives are a masterpiece because the Artist is Allah, and that stepping back to view life through a wider lens allows us to see a greater reality beyond our immediate hardships.
One of the central reflections focused on salah and its purpose in our lives. Ustadha Nagebah reminded sisters that prayer was gifted to the Prophet ﷺ in the highest of heavens during the Mi‘raj, highlighting its elevating nature. As a believer rises in their salah, the burdens of this world and perceived problems begin to feel smaller, placing trust back where it belongs: with Allah.
Reflecting on the evening, Serife Yucel, coordinator of Gallipoli Sisters, shared:
“A deeply uplifting and grounding reminder from Ustadha Nagebah Hayal. Her talk centred on Allah’s immense love and mercy, especially in the midst of the pain and hardships we experience in this life. She reminded us that those most beloved to Allah are often those who are tested the most — so if you are carrying pain, know that it is not a sign of abandonment, but of closeness to Him.”
The gathering created a warm and reflective atmosphere where sisters were able not only to absorb knowledge, but also to engage with one another, exchange reflections, and strengthen bonds within the community.
Hosting the lecture in partnership with Shifa reflects the broader mission of Gallipoli Sisters, a program under Gallipoli iYouth, which aims to connect women in the community through Islamic teachings, meaningful dialogue, and shared spiritual experiences. Events like these provide intentional spaces for Muslim women to learn, reflect, and grow together in faith.
