"The beloved Prophet ﷺ said: 'There is a cure for every disease. Whenever an illness is treated with its right remedy, it will, by Allah's permission, be cured.'"
(Sahih Muslim)
Islam encourages believers to care not only for their faith but also for the bodies that Allah has entrusted to them. Seeking treatment, maintaining good health and supporting one another in times of need are all acts deeply rooted in our faith.
With this in mind, Auburn Gallipoli Mosque proudly welcomed the MiMS Community Health Hub, a free health initiative delivered in collaboration with Muslims in Medical School (MiMS), bringing together healthcare professionals, medical students and members of the local community for a day dedicated to education, prevention and wellbeing.
Muslims in Medical School (MiMS) is one of New South Wales' fastest-growing organisations of Muslim medical students and junior doctors. Guided by its mission to cultivate Social connection, Environment, Education and Discourse (SEED), MiMS empowers future healthcare professionals to serve both the medical profession and the wider Muslim community through education, service and meaningful engagement.
Their Community Health Hub reflects that mission by making healthcare education accessible, practical and welcoming for everyone.
Throughout the day, visitors were able to participate in a range of free health services designed to promote early detection and healthier lifestyles.
The Community Health Hub included:
Medical students and doctors spent the day speaking directly with community members, explaining the importance of recognising early warning signs of chronic illness and offering practical steps to reduce risk through healthy lifestyle choices.
With cardiovascular disease and diabetes remaining among Australia's leading causes of illness, initiatives such as these help bridge the gap between healthcare professionals and the community by encouraging prevention before treatment becomes necessary.
For Gallipoli Turkish Cultural Foundation, supporting community wellbeing extends far beyond spiritual guidance.
This is not the first time Auburn Gallipoli Mosque has opened its doors to deliver vital healthcare services.
In 2021, the mosque partnered with the Western Sydney Local Health District COVID-19 Outreach Vaccination Team to host a community vaccination clinic, enabling members of the Turkish-Australian community to safely receive their first COVID-19 vaccinations in a familiar and trusted environment. The initiative formed part of a broader outreach program delivering vaccinations to vulnerable and priority populations across Western Sydney.
Community wellbeing is not limited to one event.
Gallipoli Turkish Cultural Foundation continues to promote healthier lifestyles through Gallipoli Fitness, providing modern fitness facilities for both men and women in comfortable, welcoming environments. By encouraging regular physical activity and creating accessible spaces for exercise, the Foundation aims to help community members prioritise their long-term health and wellbeing.
Whether through fitness, education, preventative healthcare or community support, every initiative shares the same purpose: helping people live healthier, happier lives.
At Gallipoli Turkish Cultural Foundation, we believe true wellbeing is achieved by nurturing every aspect of a person's life.
Our commitment extends beyond physical health to include psychological support, social connection and spiritual development. Together, these pillars create a holistic approach that strengthens individuals, families and the wider community.
The success of the MiMS Community Health Hub is a reminder of what can be achieved when faith, knowledge and service come together. We thank the dedicated volunteers, medical students and doctors from MiMS who generously gave their time and expertise, as well as every community member who attended and took an important step towards better health.
By working together, we continue building a healthier, stronger and more connected community for generations to come.
